About
What do programmers know about users? What do interaction designers know about system constraints? In my experience, not much. And that's a problem.
A Dual Approach
In this day and age, it's not enough to be just a code monkey or a pixel pusher. I strive to merge both disciplines to deliver compelling, intuitive web sites and applications for many different users. With an eye for design, I build light-weight (yet data intensive) builds that provide an easy-to-use experience for both front and back end users.
What I Do
I'm a firm believer in Open Source. Drupal is my content management system of choice, though I've been known to dabble in WordPress and I've tinkered with Joomla. I've even developed my own custom solutions here or there using a variety of home-baked or packaged frameworks.
Responsive First
It's not enough to build sites for the desktop. All of my work features fully responsive design, using CSS3 Media Queries and Javascript. Some sites are trickier than others though, and so custom solutions might be necessary. The three devices I create breakpoints for are smartphones, tablets, and desktops. Large screens (1600+ pixels) have been done upon request.
Lifetime Learning
The Open Source community is great about giving back. Through my blog, contributions on drupal.org, and other sites, I build on the common knowledge base. Have a question about any of my implementations? Just ask.
